Owner, Director, Instructor

Ms. Char is originally from Chicago, but is proud to call Aurora home. She attributes her beginning dance training to the Doris Jordan School of Dance under the direction of the late Mrs. Jordan and the Joseph Holmes School of Dance under the direction of Randy Duncan and Harriet Ross. At the age of 9, Ms. Char began her competitive dance training at Premier One Dance Academy where she competed in local competitions. By the age of 12, Ms. Char was more invested in her dance training and switched gears to begin her pre- professional dance training by taking classes at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Ballet Chicago, Joel Hall Dance Center and her home studio the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center under the direction of Mr. Homer Bryant, where she also performed as a company member.

 Ms. Char has worked locally as a teaching artist and choreographer for the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center, Premier One Dance Academy, Gallery 37 and the City of Chicago’s National Youth Sports Program. She most recently served as a teaching artist and choreographer for the Steppin Out Dance Studio where she taught students ages 3-18 in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Pointe and Strength/Conditioning. Ms. Char also worked as the Artistic Director of the A- Factor Dance Company. She was instrumental in directing the company’s winter and summer dance concerts, as well as A- Factor’s competition season. Ms. Char is an alumni of Barat College by DePaul University and holds a BFA in Ballet, Modern and Jazz.

In conjunction with being the proud owner of the all new Motif Dance Studio and Dance Company in Aurora, IL, Ms. Char is a Guidance Secretary at Metea Valley High School and is the Assistant Director of the Orchesis Dance Company at the High School.  She enjoys sharing her passion for dance with students of all ages and believes that everyone should be inspired to dream. She gives her time willingly and is dedicated to being a role model and mentor to her students. Ms. Char is looking forward to seeing the growth of her dancers at Motif in the years to come.


Choreographer & Instructor

Tanya Osika put on her first dance shoes at the age of three. She never imagined her first dance routine including mouse ears and tutu would initiate such a strong love affair with dance. From classical ballet to tap, Tanya’s insatiable desire to learn has led her to study almost all forms of dance. Growing up in the dance studio and the competitive dance world, Tanya had the pleasure of studying dance with talented choreographers and master teachers such as Mia Michaels, Doug Caldwell, and Jay Fagan. Tanya is also a national award winning performer and choreographer and truly adores teaching and inspiring others to pursue their dancing dreams. A dance educator since her teen years, Tanya holds a degree from Columbia College and is a talented graphic designer. She is currently continuing her education and working towards a certificate in Business Management from Waubonsee Community College. Tanya is passionate about continuing her dance education and attends Rhythm World workshops annually where she has been able to study tap technique with artists such as Derick K. Grant, Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Bril Barrett and many more talented tap dancers. Recently, Tanya had the honor of studying jazz dance with Chicago jazz legend Nan Giordano and completed the Basic and Beginning Level Teacher Certification Programs. Tanya is thrilled to bring her years of teaching experience and creativity to the Motif Dance Family.


Special Needs Coordinator,Choreographer & Instructor

Kori Morrissy fell in love with dance at a young age! She studied ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater and lyrical at Dance Motions, Inc. located in Bartlett, IL where she had the opportunity to learn from Kristin Hild, Sinead Gildea, Kelli Bahwell, Eddy O’Campo, and many other instructors. Kori received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Augustana College and has her M.Ed in Special Education/ESL Education from National-Louis University. She was an active member of the Augustana Dance Company serving as a choreographer and president of the group. She has taught for Expressions of the Quad Cities Dance Academy and choreographed dances for the Express Yourself Competition Team.

Kori most recently was a dance instructor for Steppin' Out Dance Studio and instructor and choreographer for A-Factor Dance Company. Her choreography has won many first place and overall high score awards over the years. Kori loves learning and continues to take master classes through festivals, local studios, and conventions. She has attended Rhythm World through the Chicago Human Rhythm Project where she had the opportunity to meet and take class from renowned tap dancers such as Savion Glover, Maud Arnold, Sam Weber, Dani Borak, and Nico Rubio. Additionally, she works as a Special Education and ELL Resource Teacher in the Central School District. Kori has a passion for educating young people and watching her students grow in their technique and confidence through dance.

Beginning Level Co-Instructor & Senior Company Member

Ms. Ariel an Aurora native and has been dancing since before she could walk. She started Ballet classes at the age of 3 years old and became very dedicated to dance by the age of 7. She continued with her Ballet training and added more classes such as Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop.  At age 11, she then began taking Pointé and Lyrical as well. 
Ms. Ariel’s previous teaching expertise is credited to the Assistant Teacher position she held at the Fox Valley Park District under the leadership of Ms. Tanya Osika. She was also a member of the A- Factor Dance Company for 8 years.  She has received several awards throughout her competitive dance years, most notably the Competition Kindness Award in 2016 and the position of Pro Reveler (Teaching Assistant) at the Revel Dance Convention in 2017.  Ms. Ariel is always looking for new opportunities to further her dance training. She has enjoyed taking Master Tap Classes at the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, which has afforded her the opportunity to meet professional tap extraordinaire Maud Arnold and Switzerland’s 6-time World Tap Dance Champion Daniel Borak.  Ms. Ariel is excited about co-teaching and sharing her knowledge with young dancers and is looking forward to the upcoming dance season. 

Ms. Ariel is going into her Sophomore year at West Aurora High where she was a member of the Step Team. She is dedicated to inspiring dancers to dance with what’s in their heart.


Ms. Makayla was born in the city of Chicago, but Aurora is where she calls home. At the age of 6, she began taking gymnastic classes. She quickly took a liking to the sport and joined the Flyaways Competitive Gymnastics Team where she competed for 5 years. Before she switched over to Dance Ms. Makayla had worked her way up to Level 5.

By age 11 Makayla found she was looking for an art that would allow for her to be more expressive while competing and performing. She began taking dance classes for a year to enhance her dance technique and a year later joined the A- Factor Dance Company. Since then Makayla has found her passion and enjoys the competitive side of dance. Her highlights from her Competitive years included attending and competing at Dupree Dance Competition and receiving a scholarship to from the Nextstar Dance Competition’s PaC-Attack.

Ms. Makayla is going into her Freshman year at Waubonsie Valley, where she has just been selected as a member of their Orchesis Dance Company. She is extremely excited about co-teaching the beginning dancers and furthering her dance training. Ms. Makayla has been a great mentor to the younger dancers she was worked with.

Allyson Gorecki- Ms. Ally


Ally Gorecki is a dance instructor teaching all ages at both recreational and competitive levels. While she has trained in jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and poms throughout her dance career, tap and musical theater have always been her passions. In college, she choreographed and performed for a company affiliated with Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI for 5 years. Upon moving back to the Chicagoland area, began teaching with the Park District and has been happily doing so for the last 5 years. She has two bachelor’s degrees from Marquette University and currently works in education. Miss Ally is a proud founding member of A Step Above Dance Company, where she coaches Dream. Their team has won awards locally and has taken home various judge’s choice awards over the years. Miss Ally strives to instill pride and self-confidence in all of her dancers. She hopes each child walks away from her classes with a passion for dance and an appreciation for all of the hard work they have put in. Miss Ally has joined Motif Dance Studio in 2019 and is teaching classes to youth and adults. We are extremely excited to have her be a part of Motif’s team, sharing her passion and skills with the dancers.

Abigail Schafer- Ms. Abby

Summer Instructor

Abby Schafer found an interest in dance when she was 5 years old, living outside of Seattle, Washington. She later moved to Aurora, Illinois where she was exposed to both the competition dance environment and the professional dance world. After an enlightening class from Lizzie Mackenzie, who has since become her primary mentor, Abby recognized that she wanted to pursue dance as a profession at the age of 12. The following year, she earned the title of ‘Teen Miss Legacy’ from her very first self-choreographed solo. Later, as a freshman
in high school, her first endeavor in group-choreography qualified for an orchesis state competition. She eventually transitioned from her competition-based dance studio to train at a pre-professional studio in Chicago up until she graduated high school in 2018. There, she performed in Ron De Jesus’ Chicago production of The Osiris Legend and performed alongside Dance in the Parks in the summer of 2018. Abby then traveled across the country to study dance at Sam Houston State University. There, she has been working with MFA students in completing their Thesis projects as well as excelling in her major and choreographing on the side. In the fall of 2018, she was chosen among six MFA and BFA students to perform on the Alvin Ailey stage in NY, NY at The Dance Gallery Festival. Throughout her career, Abby has attended intensives by River North Dance Chicago, Giordano Dance Chicago, Elements Contemporary Ballet, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and she looks forward to cultivating her passion further.
